One of the best parts about sitting at an office all day, watching the clock, is the possibility of meeting up with a friend and going to happy hour. And this past Wednesday, I did just that.

With me working in midtown and my friend working in Soho, we decided to “meet in the middle” at one of our favorite Happy Hour spots: The Cellar @ Beechers Cheese Shop located at 20th and 5th.

The Cellar, as you would expect, is located in the basement of a working cheese factory and shop and offers a fantastic eat and drink happy hour special with discounted drinks and 7$ meals, all while sitting in a really comfortable and intimate atmosphere, only lit by candlelight. Very romantic.

At first, we were just going to drink, so we ordered our wine and specialty cocktails, but when the waitress persuaded us to look at the food menu, our appetites (and diet) got the best of us.

Since Beechers makes some of their cheese in-house, we had to try their cheese plate: their flagship cheese which resembled a Gouda and another cheese imported from Holland. Knowing this would not fill us up in the least bit, we added on their world-famous macaroni and cheese and a side Caeser salad (you know, to balance everything out).

Everything was simply amazing – and cheesy! Naturally, the mac and cheese stole the show having such a distinct flavor and texture unlike any mac and cheese I have ever had before.

If you are like me and you love trying new macaroni and cheeses and don’t care about what you look like in a bathing suit, I suggest you get a group together and visit The Cellar @ Beechers Cheese Shop for some refreshing cocktails and tons of cheese. Just make sure to get there before 7 when the Happy Hour ends!
